True Confessions: Restaurant Conversations

This is my last post in the True Confessions series about my eavesdropping exploits. In this post I want to highlight one of the best places to hear couples conversations—restaurants. I’ve heard some amazing dialog between couples while dining out. Everything from heartwarming to heartbreaking to amusing, like this one!

“I’m so glad you remembered.”

“I know this is your favorite spot.”

“Right, and the perfect place to celebrate.”

“Umm…of course.”

“I’ll never forget what you said.”

‘When?”

“When you proposed silly.”

“Ah…”

“I’d love it if you could say the words again.”

“It’s been a while.”

“Ha, Ha, very funny.”

“What has it been, three years?”

“You’re kidding right?”

“Umm….”

“It’s been a year. And I thought it was going great until now.”

“You’re right, I was kidding.”

“Too late.”

“Okay, I’m sorry you know things have been crazy at work.”

“Like that has anything to do with what you said. Has our marriage really been that awful?”

“Of course not. You’ve been terrific. I’m an idiot.”

“Agreed.”

“Ouch. Okay, let’s start over. To our wonderful year together.”

“Better. Now how about the words.”

“Ah…you are the most amazing person and I…..”

“Wrong.”

“Every time I look into your eyes I see the woman of my dreams.”

“Nice try, but….”

“My life began when I met you.”

“Wrong.”

“Now I remember.”

“Finally!”

 “You complete me.”

“You know where you’re sleeping tonight.”

“The couch?”

“No. Your parents.”

The next time you head out to dinner don’t forget to take a little note pad so you can jot down a conversation. You never know when dialog gold will be ready for mining.

Wow. That conversation could be the basis for an entire novel! Hollywood restaurants are great for eavesdropping...lots of wheeling & dealing going on!

I actually feel sorry for the guy...

...and yet I've probably done that to my own husband. LOL

LOL Stacey! I felt sorry for him too.

Nicole I think so too. Made me wish they'd keep talking all night. : )

Wow, Anne. That is such a sad conversation. I kind of like that she's so feisty, but, yeah, I feel bad for the poor guy too. I liked how he kept trying to find the right words.
